My Approach to Training

There is no doubt that training is an impactful way to up-skill and improve individuals and teams.

I've seen, heard, and delivered training that works.  I've also seen, heard, and delivered (unfortunately) training that doesn't work.  I've used the successes and missed-marks to hone in on my approach.  So here's my thoughts on training:

  1. It has to be the right solution to the need - sometimes the need is coaching, process improvement, or goal clarity

  2. It has to fit in people's busy schedules, while balancing enough time for learning - 1.5-3 hours is great per topic

  3. People respect real - realistic examples, no fluffy idealistic cutesy models or solutions. Real examples. Real solutions.

  4. Participation matters - I'll build in questions and activities, but I need teams to talk, ask questions, and no stare into the void
